About Us

The Reading Liederkranz was founded by a group of friends that gathered to sing songs from their native Germany. The club grew quickly, serving the growing German immigrant population of the late 19th century.  Today, nearly 127 years later, the club serves not only Germans, but indeed all of Berks County, as it has evolved into one of the area's premier cultural and festival destinations.  We host the oldest and largest Oktoberfest in Pennsylvania, attracting thousands of visitors each year.  Our Christkindlmarkt and other events draw crowds from all walks of life eager to experience German hospitality, cuisine and of course some good German beer!
