Our Reading Liederkranz recent trip to Quebec City, the Eastern Provinces of Quebec, and the northeast Atlantic Ocean aboard the Norwegian Sky.  Lots of beautiful scenery, fantastic food and beverages, amazing entertainment, and fantastic friends who will remember and reminisce about this great trip forever!

A wedding was held...and a custom upheld.

On 09.09.23, Alexis and Noah Marx held their wedding reception at the Reading Liederkranz. What a wonderful venue!

As part of the festivities, they had a Baumstamm sägen (sawing of tree trunk), which is an old German wedding custom. It consists of cutting a log, which represents the first obstacle that the couple must overcome in their marriage. They must work together to “overcome the obstacle” by sawing through the log. Using a saw with two handles, the couple demonstrates their teamwork to friends and family, and their willingness and ability to master the difficulties that inevitably arise in a marriage.
